Clicker Heroes is one of the games that defined the idle clicker genre. Click on monsters to deal damage, collect gold from their defeat, and use that gold to hire heroes who deal automatic damage per second. As your DPS grows, you progress through zones filled with increasingly powerful monsters — and the numbers just keep getting bigger.
The genius of Clicker Heroes is its layered progression system. Heroes can be leveled up and upgraded with special abilities. Ancient artifacts provide permanent multipliers that persist through ascensions. Ascension itself is a prestige mechanic that resets your progress but grants Hero Souls — a premium currency that powers exponential growth.
The game excels at the idle formula: leave it running and your heroes fight automatically, but active clicking with the right abilities activated can push you through tough boss zones. The dopamine hit of watching your damage numbers go from hundreds to millions to billions to incomprehensible scientific notation is uniquely addictive.
Playing Clicker Heroes online means you can check in anytime to see your progress and make strategic decisions about upgrades. The game runs in the background, accumulating gold and defeating monsters while you focus on other things. It is the perfect companion game that rewards both active play and patient waiting.
How to Play Clicker Heroes Online
Start by clicking on the monster displayed on the right side of the screen. Each click deals damage based on your click damage stat. Defeated monsters drop gold that you can spend on hiring and upgrading heroes from the panel on the left side of the screen.
Heroes deal automatic DPS that increases as you level them up. Each hero also has special upgrades that unlock at certain levels, boosting either their own damage or the damage of all heroes. Focus on leveling your highest-DPS hero first, then distribute upgrades across your team for maximum efficiency.
Every five zones features a boss monster with a health bar and a time limit. You must defeat the boss within 30 seconds or you fail and stay on the current zone. If your DPS is not high enough, farm the previous zones to build up gold and upgrade your heroes before attempting the boss again.
Once your progress slows down, consider ascending. This resets your heroes and zones but awards Hero Souls based on how far you got. Hero Souls can be spent on Ancients — powerful permanent upgrades that dramatically increase your power on future runs. Each ascension makes you stronger, creating a satisfying loop of progress that can last for weeks or months.
